Argentina: Four forest fires burning in Cordoba province September 23

Hundreds of firefighters deployed as four forest fires reported in Cordoba province as of September 23; monitor situation

Warning

Event

Around 400 firefighters have been deployed after four forest fires were reported in the province of Cordoba as of Wednesday, September 23. Reports suggest that forest fires are ongoing near the towns Villa Carlos Paz, Los Morteritos, Cuchi Corral, and Unquillo. Seven planes were also assisting efforts to contain the fires; however, it was reported on Tuesday, September 22, that hydrant planes cannot operate because the fires also affected part of the runway at the Aeroclub La Cumbre. Further spread of the fires is possible in the near term.

An emergency response presence and localized transportation disruptions, namely road closures, should be anticipated in the affected areas.

Advice

Those in the vicinity of the fires are advised to monitor the situation, avoid the area, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
