Warning

Event

A 24-hour strike is expected to take place on Thursday, October 1, by health sector employees affiliated with the Association of Government Workers (ATE) over labor-related demands and to denounce police violence during a protest which was held in the capital on September 21. Reports indicate that an associated demonstration is scheduled to be held at the city Legislature building from 13:00 (local time).

Localized disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of the march. Disruptions to medical services are also possible, though the strike action will likely not affect emergency services. Additional related protests are possible during the strike period. A heightened security presence should also be anticipated in the vicinity of all demonstrations.

Advice

Those in Buenos Aires should be aware that a reduced health service capacity due to the strike action is possible and should be anticipated and are advised to confirm medical appointments. Monitor the situation, anticipate disruptions, avoid protests, and adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities.
