Medical staff to strike in Buenos Aires on November 17

Health workers affiliated with the Association of Municipal Doctors, represented by the Sindicato Unico de Trabajadores de Estado de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (SUTECBA) union, have called for a 24-hour strike and an assocaited rally in Buenos Aires on Tuesday, November 17, to reject a proposed salary increase by the government which the workers have deemed insufficient. Participants plan to gather outside the intersection of Bueno Aires' Avenida Amancio Alcorta and Monasterio, near the Ministry of Health, from 10:00 (local time) and march from 10:30 to the government headquarters in Parque de los Patricios. Disruption to health services at hospitals and medical facilities should also be anticipated; emergency services are not expected to be impacted by the action.

Localized travel disruptions and a heightened security presence should be anticipated in the vicinity of the rally, along with associated disruptions resulting from the strike. Clashes or skirmishes between security forces and demonstrators cannot be ruled out.
