Informational

Event

Health Workers affiliated with the Association of Municipal Doctors (Asociacion Medicos Municipales, AMM), the Federation of Professionals (Federacion de Profesionales), and the Association of State Workers - Capital (Asociacion de Trabajadores del Estado - Capital, ATE) will hold a 36-hour strike in Buenos Aires 1200 Dec. 15-0001 Dec. 17. The action is part of an ongoing labor dispute over salaries and working conditions.

Unless the walkout is averted, disruptions to routine health services at government hospitals, Health and Community Care Centers (CESAC), and at Febrile Emergency Units (UFUS) are likely due to understaffing. The work stoppage is not likely to impact emergency treatment. Increased demand for care could also disrupt services at private facilities.

As part of the agitation, striking workers plan to hold demonstrations at hospitals and health facilities throughout the city 1100-1200 Dec. 15. Such events may impede access to some facilities; however, they are likely to remain small-scale and are unlikely to cause major disruptions.

Advice

Confirm appointments at medical facilities in Buenos Aires Dec. 15-17. Be prepared for some delays. Avoid all protests. Follow all security personnel instructions.
