Argentina: Tourism workers to protest in Buenos Aires Dec. 21

Tourism workers to protest outside the Ministry of Tourism and Sports in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 1000 Dec. 21. Disruptions likely.

Warning

Event

Workers in the tourism sector, including travel agents, wholesale operators, hoteliers, restaurant workers, and transporters plan to protest outside the Ministry of Tourism and Sports (MINTUR) building in Buenos Aires from 1000 Dec. 21. The action is to demand government assistance to combat the adverse economic impacts that coronavirus disease (COVID-19)-related restrictions have had on the sector.

It is unclear how many people will attend the demonstration, though a large gathering is likely to cause localized traffic disruptions, especially near the intersection of Avenida Santa Fe and Suipacha, where the MINTUR is located. Police will probably deploy to monitor the demonstration and secure the ministry building; however, major violence is unlikely.

Advice

Avoid all protests as a standard precaution. Allow extra travel time near the protest location in Buenos Aires Dec. 21.
