Mali: Union plans five-day nationwide strike from Dec. 14-18

The National Workers Union of Mali (UNTM) has called for a five-day nationwide strike from Dec. 14-18. Organizers have called the action to demand improved working and living conditions for workers. Union leaders have also called for a standardized wage packet system. Representatives from the government and the union have not held any negotiations despite previous efforts. UNTM is the largest union in Mali, and thousands of employees are likely to participate in the walkout.
