Health sector staff schedule marches across Argentina April 7. Transport disruptions anticipated.

Employees of the Argentine health sector have called for a national day of struggle April 7 on World Health Day to call for improved working conditions. Organizers have announced actions at multiple locations nationwide:

  • Buenos Aires: Protest at Ministry of Health at 10:00.

  • Catamarca: March from the Children's Hospital at an undisclosed time.

  • Chaco: Rally near the Pediatric Hospital at 09:30.

  • Chubut: Mobilizations throughout the province accompanied by a 24-hour strike.

  • Escobar: Rally at the Erill Hospital at 11:00.

  • La Matanza: Rally at the Cathedral of San Justo at 15:00.

  • La Pampa: Caravan through the center of Santa Rosa at an undisclosed time.

  • La Rioja: Mobilizations throughout the province.

  • Neuquen: March to the Government House at an undisclosed time.

  • Rio Negro: Mobilizations in Bariloche, Cipoletti, Roca, Choele Choel, Viedma, and San Antonio Oeste (SAO).

  • San Luis: Mobilizations throughout the province, notably at hospitals.

  • Tucuman: March from Plaza Urquiza to Plaza Independencia starting 10:30.

  • Tierra del Fuego: Assemblies and awareness activities in Rio Grande and Ushuaia.

Dozens to several hundreds of people may participate in each event. The largest gatherings will likely occur in major urban centers, including Buenos Aires. Police will probably deploy to monitor the demonstrations and secure the affected areas. Major violence is unlikely; however, localized traffic disruptions are probable near protest locations and along march routes.
