Activists, affiliated with multiple left-wing organizations and unions, including Polo Obrero, have initiated protests in Buenos Aires, Aug. 18 to demand salary increases and better job opportunities. Protesters have built roadblocks around Puente Pueyrredon and plan to march from there to the Social Development Ministry, in downtown Buenos Aires, along Avenida 9 de Julio.
Significant transport disruptions are likely in the areas surrounding the demonstrations. Police have deployed a large number of officers, and clashes with protesters are likely. Business disruptions are likely throughout Aug. 18.
