Warning

Event

Activists associated with several civil society groups, including the "Neighborhoods Standing Up" (Barrios de Pie) organization, are staging a march in Buenos Aires Sept. 21. Participants are marching from the intersection of Avenida 9 de Julio and Avenida Independencia to Plaza de Mayo, where the event will conclude. The primary purpose of the action is to demand that the government raise the minimum wage for workers. Localized traffic disruptions have already occurred along Avenida 9 de Julio and are likely along the entirety of the march route.

Security personnel will likely deploy to monitor the march. Although the event will probably remain largely peaceful, isolated clashes between demonstrators and security personnel may occur if activists become overly disruptive.

Advice

Plan accordingly for localized transport disruptions in affected areas. Use alternate routes to circumvent the protest activity wherever possible. If violence breaks out, depart the area immediately.
