Bolivia: Activists plan to protest in Yacuiba, Sept. 23
Yacuiba Civic Committee plans to protest in Yacuiba, southern Bolivia, Sept. 23. Transport delays are likely.
Event
The Yacuiba Civic Committee group plans to erect a 24-hour roadblock in Yacuiba, Sept. 23. The group is protesting against a government taxation policy. The roadblock is reportedly in the Campo Pajoso area and will block access along the F9 roadway north to Santa Cruz and Villa Montes and the route, likely the F29, west to Tarija and Carapari.
Authorities will likely deploy to monitor the roadblock. Demonstrators may erect roadblocks in other locations nearby. Clashes are possible if protesters ignore police orders to disperse. Localized ground travel disruptions, including to cross-border private and freight transport, are likely should the roadblock protest persist through Sept. 23.
Advice
Allow for additional travel time in Yacuiba through Sept. 23. Avoid the roadblock areas as a precaution. Seek alternative routes.
