Cayman Islands moves into phase three of its COVID-19-related entry restrictions Sept. 9, reopening borders to international tourism.
Event
The Cayman Islands has moved to phase three of its multi-phase COVID-19 restrictions regime Sept. 9, opening the borders to international tourism and commercial flights. Under phase three, tourism to the islands is only permitted for vaccinated travelers.
Unvaccinated people, including those under 12, remain prohibited from entering the territory as tourists. Caymanians returning to the islands, residents and work permit holders, and those with close ties to the islands are also permitted to enter the territory by air. Cruise ship tourism remains prohibited.
All travelers must receive approval to enter the territory through the Travel Cayman system prior to departure. As part of this requirement, travelers are required to submit the results of a COVID-19 PCR test. Persons who provide proof of having been fully vaccinated must quarantine for five days upon arrival. Those classified as unverifiably vaccinated must quarantine for 10 days and permitted unvaccinated arrivals must quarantine for 14 days. Travelers are subject to an additional PCR test prior to being released from quarantine. Travelers not eligible for the five-day isolation period must wear a GPS device during their quarantine.
Authorities have lifted most major domestic pandemic-related restrictions. Individuals must wear facemasks while riding public or private transportation and when in certain indoor public spaces. Indoor public gatherings are limited to 500 people, while outdoor gatherings are limited to 1,000 people.
Authorities could also move to reimpose, extend, tighten, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
