Informational

Event

Healthcare sector workers have planned a series of actions in Buenos Aires Province through Dec. 3 to protest wages and working conditions. The Trade Union Association of Health Professionals of the Province of Buenos Aires (Asociacion Sindical de Profesionales de la Salud de la Provincia de Buenos Aires, CICOP) plans to protest in Buenos Aires Nov. 24. The exact location of the protest is unclear; gatherings could occur at hospitals and government offices and buildings. Several hundred people may attend the demonstration.

Nurses affiliated with the Association of Graduates in Nursing (Asociacion de Licenciados en Enfermeria, ALE) plan to hold related protests in Buenos Aires and Bahia Blanca from 18:30 Nov. 24. In Buenos Aires, demonstrators will gather at the Congress building and march towards Plaza de Mayo. The exact location of the Bahia Blanca demonstration is unclear, though protesters may gather at hospitals and government offices and facilities. The protest is to commemorate National Nursing Day. CICOP stated they would support the strike. Tens to hundreds of people may attend.

CICOP members plan to strike in Buenos Aires Dec. 3 and will hold a protest in La Plata that afternoon. The exact time and location of the protest are unclear; attendees may gather at the Provincial Legislature building, near major government buildings, hospitals, or prominent parks. Several hundred people may attend the demonstration.

Heightened security and ground travel disruptions are likely near protest locations. Clashes between police and protesters cannot be ruled out. The strike will likely affect non-emergency health services at clinics and hospitals. Demand for healthcare at facilities that remain operational will likely cause delays.

Advice

Avoid all protests as a precaution. Confirm all appointments at medical facilities Nov. 24 and Dec. 3. Allow additional time to reach your destination if operating in Buenos Aires, La Plata, and Bahia Blanca on affected days. Do not attempt to cross a roadblock if you encounter one.
