Bolivia: Demonstrators march from Caracollo to La Paz Nov. 23-29
Pro-government demonstrators marching from Caracollo to La Paz, Bolivia, Nov. 23-29. Transport disruptions are likely on highways.
Event
Thousands of members of the Movement toward Socialism (Movimiento al Socialismo, MAS) political party, including former President Luis Arce and former President Evo Morales, began marching from Caracollo, Oruro Department, to La Paz Nov. 23. Organizers of the march plan on arriving in La Paz Nov. 29.
Although the march is in support of the government and will likely be peaceful, the demonstrators are likely to cause transport disruptions on National Route 4 and National Route 1. Organizers of the march have said they will hold a rally in La Paz upon their arrival, but as of Nov. 23, no location for the rally has been announced. Any rally site is likely to similarly see transport disruptions. Police are likely to deploy in response to the march.
Advice
Allow for additional travel time on National Route 4, National Route 1, and near any site where the demonstrators are holding a rally. Heed the instructions of security personnel.
