Militants killed at least four government soldiers and wounded 14 others in an attack on a security post in Guire township in Nara Cercle on Nov. 14. Military forces reportedly repelled the assailants, killing at least six of the attackers.

The Malian military will likely maintain a heightened security posture in the impact area over the coming days. Further similar attacks remain almost certain.

Context

Insecurity is prevalent across much of Mali. Islamist militants or affiliated groups conduct attacks regularly.
