Air-traffic controllers cancel strikes and protests in Argentina Jan. 11, following government action. Flight disruptions are unlikely.
Event
Unionized air-traffic controllers and other airport workers in Argentina, affiliated with the Association of Technicians and Employees of Air Navigation Protection and Security (Asociacion de Tecnicos y Empleados de Proteccion y Seguridad de Aeronavegacion, ATEPSA), have canceled a schedule of strikes and protests Jan. 11, following a government action. Officials at the Labor Ministry ordered the union to negotiate before the start of the strike, and ATEPSA leaders accepted.
The union planned to hold partial strikes most days between Jan. 11-31, affecting cargo and passenger flights for several hours a day. Union leaders said that while they accept the mandatory negotiation, they maintain their complaints, and the protest actions could occur in the future.
Flight disruptions related to union protests are unlikely in the coming days.
