Argentina: Protest in Salta Feb. 8

Several social organizations, including the Polo Obrero, are protesting near the intersection of Avenida San Martin and Cordoba in Salta Feb. 8. The demonstration began at 09:30. Protesters are denouncing an agreement between the government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which proposes the non-payment of foreign debt in exchange for tariff hikes and the extraction of natural resources. Participants have blocked traffic on Avenida San Martin between Cordoba and Pellegrini and plan to march towards Plaza 9 de Julio.
