Warning

Event

Authorities in Bolivia have eased some of the nation's COVID-19-related restrictions on domestic activity and international travel as of May 2. All post-arrival quarantine requirements have been lifted. Only unvaccinated travelers require a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival.

Domestic Measures
A vaccine certificate is required to enter certain types of businesses and facilities, such as places of worship, event venues, and public institutions. Individuals who are not fully vaccinated must provide a negative result from a PCR test or Antigen test taken within the previous 48 hours to enter these establishments. All individuals must observe social distancing of 1.5 meters (5 feet) and wear a facemask in public places. Authorities have also urged the public to avoid mass events.

Municipal officials are empowered to enforce tighter restrictions on businesses, intercity and interdepartmental travel, general movement, recreational activity, and public gatherings, depending on the local risk of disease transmission. These measures may include scheduling and capacity limits or restrictions on commercial operating hours or vehicular movements.

International Travel Restrictions
Under existing international travel restrictions, all unvaccinated travelers over five years of age must present a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before departure for Bolivia. A negative antigen test taken within 48 hours will also be accepted. Both fully vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers can enter Bolivia without the need to quarantine. All nonresident foreigners must also prove that they have a health insurance policy that covers COVID-19 treatment. All travelers must complete an online entry form before arrival.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further tighten, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
