Bolivia: Health care workers to strike nationwide June 2-3

Bolivian health care workers to strike nationwide June 2-3. Medical services delays, heightened security, traffic disruptions likely.

Informational

Event

The Bolivian Medical Association (Colegio Medico de Bolivia) is planning a 48-hour nationwide strike June 2-3 to protest the Ministry of Health's decision to continue its COVID-related Health Emergency Law.

Unless averted, the work stoppage will probably disrupt non-emergency medical services across the country. Localized demonstrations near hospitals, medical centers, or buildings associated with the Ministry of Health are likely, as are heightened security and disruptions to traffic. Clashes are possible if police attempt to clear protesters.

Advice

Confirm any existing medical appointments. Prepare accordingly for possible delays at healthcare facilities. As a precaution, avoid any demonstrations that may take place. Heed the instructions of authorities.
