Warning

Event

Activists affiliated with several organizations, including the Autonomous Argentina's Workers Central (Central de Trabajadores de la Argentina Autonoma, CTA-A), plan to hold protests throughout Argentina July 20, to demand the national government to implement several economic policies, including a universal basic income. The main protest is scheduled to take place on the Pueyrredon Bridge, connecting Buenos Aires with the city of Avellaneda, starting at 10:00. Protests nationwide are also scheduled to start at 10:00, and while activists have said they plan to block roads throughout the country, other protest locations have not been specified.

Thousands are likely to participate in the demonstration in Buenos Aires, while hundreds may gather in other major cities, such as La Plata, Rosario, and Cordoba. Disruptions are likely near downtown squares, government buildings, and major roads. Heightened security is likely, and while clashes between police and demonstrators are unlikely to occur, they cannot be ruled out.

Advice

Avoid all protests as a precaution. Allow additional time to reach your destination if operating near an impacted area in Argentina, July 20.
