Activists, including parents and students of Sacaba's schools, have launched protests and built roadblocks in Sacaba early Aug. 22. The demonstrators are blocking the main roads connecting Sacaba with Cochabamba to demand improved conditions in schools, including meals and security. Some of the protest locations include Avenida Villazon and the Chaquimayu Bridge.
Due to the protests, significant transport and business disruptions are likely in Sacaba and Cochabamba. Heightened security is possible. Clashes may occur if police try to remove the demonstrators from the streets forcibly.
