Bus drivers launched a protest in front of the Municipality of Lanus in Lanus, Buenos Aires Province, Aug. 16. Participants are demanding better security following an assault and shooting of a driver. Protesters are blocking traffic along Avenida Hipolito Yrigoyen, and bus services are reportedly disrupted on lines 32, 75, 128, and 158.

While the action has remained largely peaceful, there will be a heightened security presence near the demonstration. Clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out, especially if security forces attempt to disperse crowds forcibly. Localized transport and business disruptions are likely.
