Supporters of different organizations affiliated with the umbrella group Piquetero Fighting Front (Frente de Lucha Piquetero) plan to hold a march in Buenos Aires Sept. 8 to protest the national government's economic policies. Activists plan to gather at Pueyrredon Bridge on the border between the city of Buenos Aires and Avellaneda, in the Buenos Aires Province, from 11:00. From there they intend to march to the Social Development Ministry, located along Avenida 9 de Julio in the city's downtown.
Similar protests are likely in other parts of the country. Thousands are likely to participate in the demonstration, which is likely to create transport and business disruptions throughout the march route. Heightened security is likely near government buildings.
