Warning

Event

Activists are protesting outside the Office of the Attorney General in downtown Mexico City, Sept. 22. The purpose of the action is to demand more answers with regard to the victims of a mass kidnapping that occurred in Ayotzinapa in 2014.

While the action has thus far remained largely peaceful, there has been an increased police presence near the demonstration. Nevertheless, clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out. Localized transport and business disruptions are likely.

Advice

Avoid protest area as a precaution. If violence occurs, immediately leave the area and seek shelter in a non-government building. Seek alternate routes. Allow additional time to reach destinations near the protest location. Heed the instructions of security personnel.
