Bolivia: Chilean national who had been kidnapped in Cochabamba rescued in Oruro late Nov. 19

Authorities announced that a 20-year-old Chilean man who was kidnapped in the Cala Cala neighborhood of Cochabamba Nov. 14 was rescued in Oruro late Nov. 19. While police did not announce whether a ransom was paid, they did say that the man was discovered unharmed; early reports indicated that the victim's family had received a call demanding USD 150,000 in exchange for his release. Authorities did not announce any arrests in connection with the case.
