Activists have built a roadblock along National Route 4 (Ruta Nacional 4, RN4) in the Confital area, Cochabamba Department, Dec. 15. Protesters are demanding improved government services in the region. The road connects the city of Cochabamba and Oruro. Officials in Cochabamba, La Paz, and Oruro have temporarily suspended the sale of bus tickets connecting the three locations.
Significant transport disruptions are likely along the route over the coming hours. Heightened security and clashes are possible if police decide to reopen the road forcibly.
