Unknown assailants released a Bukinabe aid worker Dec. 23 after kidnapping him in the city of Gao, Dec. 19. The victim works for Medicins Sans Frontieres (MSF). The assailants entered the MSF compound in the Sossokoira area of the city around 02:00 and kidnapped him. The circumstances surrounding his subsequent release are unknown, other than he was unharmed. It is unclear if a ransom was demanded or paid to secure his release. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the abduction.
