Informational

Event

Activists are planning a demonstration in central Buenos Aires Feb. 9. Protesters plan to gather at the intersection of Avenida de Mayo and Avenida 9 de Julio from 18:00 before marching to Plaza de Mayo. Protesters have not confirmed a route, but participants are likely to march along Avenida de Mayo. The action is in solidarity with protests in Peru demanding the resignation of President Dina Boluarte. Participants will also demand that the Argentinian government ends relations with Boluarte's administration. The march was called by the Argentinian Committee in Solidarity with the Peruvian People's Fight (Comite Argentino de Solidaridad con la Lucha del Pueblo Peruano).

Heightened security and traffic and business disruptions are likely in central Buenos Aires. Skirmishes are possible, particularly if police try to disperse the crowd, but significant violence is unlikely.

Advice
