Bolivia: Protesters to attempt to block roads in San Benito Municipality, Cochabamba Department, through at least Feb. 14

Protesters to block roads in San Benito Municipality, Cochabamba Department, Bolivia, through at least Feb. 14. Avoid affected areas.

Warning

Event

Protesters have announced that they will attempt to block several roads, including National Route 7, Avenida Santa Cruz, and Avenida Siles, in San Benito Municipality, Cochabamba Department, through at least Feb. 14. The protesters are denouncing what they claim are illegal land seizures in San Benito organized by neighboring municipalities. The demonstrations have significantly disrupted transport and business operations in the area.

Police are likely to deploy to protest sites. Clashes are possible, especially if police attempt to forcibly disperse the protesters and reopen the roads.

Advice

Avoid all protests as a precaution. If violence occurs, immediately leave the area and seek shelter in a secure, nongovernmental building. Do not attempt to drive through roadblocks; wait for the police to dismantle them instead. Seek alternative routes if planning to travel on National Route 7 (e.g., National Route 4). Heed the instructions of security personnel.
