Informational

Event

Demonstrators from the La Campora activist group plan to gather at Plaza Lavalle in front of the Palace of Courts in central Buenos Aires from 21:00 until midnight March 8 in support of Vice President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. Kirchner, the former president of Argentina, was convicted of fraudulent administration on December 6, 2022, sentenced to six years in prison, and barred from running for office; the Federal Oral Court (Tribunal Oral Federal 2, TOF 2) will present the justification for Kirchner's conviction March 9.

The vigil could involve crowds of hundreds to thousands of demonstrators. Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely. The gathering will probably pass peacefully; however, counterdemonstrations and clashes are possible.

Advice

Avoid the demonstration as a precaution. Comply with directives of authorities. Plan for localized transport disruptions. If clashes occur, leave the area immediately and take shelter in a secure, nongovernment building.
