Unionized government workers to strike across Cordoba Province, Argentina, on May 16 to demand salary increases.

Warning

Event

Government workers affiliated with the Asociacion de Trabajadores del Estado (Association of State Workers, ATE) plan to hold a provincewide strike in Cordoba on May 16 to push for increased salaries, among various other demands. As part of the action, participating workers will also stage a march from Plaza San Martin to the National Ministry of Labor, located on Calle 27 de Abril 351, in the city of Cordoba starting at 09:00. Related gatherings are possible throughout the rest of the province.

Authorities will almost certainly deploy an increased police presence near any demonstrations throughout the province as a precaution. Clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out, especially if authorities forcibly disperse crowds. Localized transport and business disruptions are likely.

Advice

Avoid all demonstrations as a precaution. Heed the instructions of security personnel. Reconfirm business appointments with local government agencies.
