Firefighters continue to respond to an industrial fire that broke out at a plastics warehouse belonging to the Empacar company, in the industrial park area of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, as of early May 24. The fire started approximately at 23:00 on May 23. Authorities have said the fire is confined but not yet controlled, and it will take several more hours to extinguish fully. There are no reports of casualties associated with the incident.

A large emergency response in the area is ongoing, with more than 80 firefighters working on the fire. Transport and business disruptions in the area are likely through late May 24.
