Argentina: Unionized workers plan metro disruptions in Buenos Aires on June 8 to demand better pay, working conditions

Unionized workers plan metro disruptions in Buenos Aires, Argentina, June 8 to demand better pay, working conditions.

Informational

Event

Unionized metro workers with the Union Association of Subway and Premetro Workers (La Asociacion Gremial de Trabajadores del Subte y Premetro, AGTSyP-Metrodelegados) are planning rolling work stoppages on June 8 to disrupt metro services in Buenos Aires. The industrial action is intended to demonstrate for better compensation and safer working conditions. The stoppages are scheduled to affect the following lines:

  • Lines H and D: 05:30-10:00

  • Line E and Premetro: 10:00-14:30

  • Lines A and B: 14:30-19:00

  • Line C: 19:00-23:30

Metro services will almost certainly be disrupted. Higher-than-normal demand for other modes of transit, including taxis, is likely. Accompanying protests are possible; heightened security and localized transit disruptions are likely near any demonstrations.

Advice

Plan for transit disruptions. Monitor local news sources for developments. Heed the directives of authorities.
