Argentina: Unionized subway workers to strike in Buenos Aires Aug. 1 and 3

Unionized subway workers to strike on all lines in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Aug. 1 and 3. Public transport disruptions likely.

Warning

Event

Members of the Association of Subway and Premetro Workers (Asociacion Gremial de Trabajadores del Subte y Premetro, AGTSyP) plan to hold strikes 20:00-23:00 Aug. 1 and 06:00-09:00 Aug. 3. The work stoppage affects all lines of the Buenos Aires Subway and the city's PreMetro (tram) system to demand a shorter work week, among other things.

Increased demand for alternative means of transport is likely during the work stoppage. Disruptions could begin impacting subway services before the strike begins and extend for several hours after it ends.

Advice

Plan accordingly for subway and tram service disruptions Aug. 1 and 3. Allow additional time for ground transport in Buenos Aires. Consider alternative modes of transportation for time-sensitive travel.
