Bangladesh: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami to stage rally at in Chattogram July 22

The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami (Jamaat) party plans to rally at Laldighi ground in Chattogram, 14:30-18:00 July 22. The action is to demand the establishment of a caretaker government and the release of some of its members. Hundreds of people could participate in the event.

Authorities have yet to sanction the event but will likely deploy additional security in the vicinity of Laldighi ground. Localized transport disruptions are possible due to the presence of large numbers of people. Clashes between police and protesters cannot be ruled out, especially if authorities do not sanction the event.

Avoid all protests as a security precaution. Allow additional travel time if operating nearby the rally site. Heed all official traffic and security advisories. If violence occurs nearby, immediately depart the area.
