Argentina: Protesters block roads in central Tucuman Aug. 11

Protesters are causing significant traffic disruptions in central Tucuman early Aug. 11. Participants have blocked roads near Plaza Independencia with dozens of vehicles to protest changes to a government's savings program. Protesters have completely blocked the 25 de Mayo, Laprida, and 24 de Septiembre streets.

Transport and business disruptions are likely in the coming hours. While the action has remained largely peaceful, there will probably be an increased police presence in the area. Clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out, especially if security forces attempt to forcibly disperse protesters.
