Due to maintenance work, planned power outages will continue in parts of Phnom Penh and Kandal Province through Sept. 24. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced that electricity disruptions will occur on the following days:

  • Sept. 22: Outages will occur in Toul Kork and Kambol districts of Phnom Penh 08:00-13:00. Further planned disruptions will take place in Sen Sok, Por Sen Chey, Prek Pnov, and Kambol districts of Phnom Penh as well as Ang Snoul District, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.

  • Sept. 23: Scheduled electricity disruptions will occur in Daun Penh, Sen Sok, Meanchey, Por Sen Chey, Prek Phnov districts of Phnom Penh as well as Ang Snoul District, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.

  • Sept. 24: Planned outages are slated to take place in Sen Sok and Khambol districts, Phnom Penh, and Ang Snoul District, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.

Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.

Advice

Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
