Event

Unionized public workers, affiliated with the Federation of Unions of Municipal Workers of the Santa Fe Province (Federacion de Sindicatos de Trabajadores Municipales de la Provincia de Santa Fe, FESTRAM), have launched a 72-hour strike in the province until Oct. 20, to demand improved salaries.

Activists also plan to hold demonstrations throughout the province on Oct. 19. While specifics of the protests have not been informed, FESTRAM leaders said it is likely they will build roadblocks along major roads of Santa Fe. Rallies around government offices, including the Government's House and the Provincial Legislature in the city of Santa Fe, and the Government's Offices in Rosario, as well as city halls throughout the province, are possible.

Transport disruptions are likely through Oct. 20. Heightened security near government offices is also likely. Public services may be affected by the protest action.

Advice

Avoid all protests if you encounter them. Allow additional time to reach your destination and plan for alternative routes due to the likelihood of roadblocks. Heed instructions from authorities.
