Argentina: March scheduled in downtown Buenos Aires, Nov. 9, to defend the right to protest
Activists to march through downtown Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 15:30-17:30 Nov. 9 to defend the right to protest.
Activists affiliated with numerous organizations and political parties, including the umbrella group Memory, Truth, and Justice Alliance (Encuentro Memoria, Verdad, y Justicia), plan to hold a march through downtown Buenos Aires, starting at 15:30 Nov. 9 over a series of issues, including to defend the right to protest and demand an independent judicial system. Demonstrators plan to gather outside the Palacio de Tribunales and then march to Plaza de Mayo, where a rally will be held until 17:30.
Thousands will likely participate in the march, prompting heightened security and transport disruptions, especially around government buildings. Clashes between protesters and police are unlikely to occur but cannot be ruled out.
Avoid all protests as a precaution. Allow additional time to reach your destination if operating in downtown Buenos Aires on the afternoon of Nov. 9.
