Authorities are conducting a WWII bomb disposal operation on Markische Strasse in Dortmund as of late Jan. 30. An evacuation area with a radius of 250 meters (820 feet) is being implemented from around the site of the unexploded ordnance; as a result, the B1 highway will be closed until the operation is complete. Additionally, around 2,000 residents have been evacuated in the area. It is unclear how long the operation may take.

Delays on the B1 may linger for several hours after the operation is completed. Heightened security and transport disruptions are likely near the operation site through the evening.

Avoid the affected location as a standard precaution and seek alternative routes to circumvent the impacted area. Strictly heed all instructions from authorities.
