The German Locomotive Drivers' Union (GDL) has agreed to end its ongoing nationwide rail strike early in order to engage in renewed negotiations with management. Under the agreement, freight trains will resume operating at 18:00 Jan. 28, with passenger services restarting at 02:00 Jan. 29. The work stoppage was originally slated to continue through 18:00 Jan. 29.

National rail operating company Deutsche Bahn (DB) advises that its current emergency schedule will remain in effect until Jan. 28 and that some disruptions to train services are likely through Jan. 29.

Reconfirm all rail travel arrangements and status of freight shipments through at least Jan. 29.
