Unionized aviation security staff affiliated with the Verdi trade union plan to strike at 11 airports across Germany on Feb. 1. The purpose of the work stoppage is to demand increased salaries. Participating security staff will strike at the following airports:

  • Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER)

  • Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN)

  • Bremen Airport (BRE)

  • Dresden Airport (DRS)

  • Dusseldorf Airport (DUS)

  • Erfurt-Weimar Airport (ERF)

  • Frankfurt Airport (FRA)

  • Leipzig/Halle Airport (LEJ)

  • Hamburg Airport (HAM)

  • Hanover Airport (HAJ)

  • Stuttgart Airport (STR)

Security clearance, baggage check, baggage pickup delays, and flight disruptions are likely at all affected airports. Picket protests are possible; heightened security and transport disruptions are likely near any such demonstrations that take shape.
