Argentina: Anti-government organizations plan to protest, build roadblocks throughout Buenos Aires Feb. 22 and 23
Anti-government activists plan to hold protests, build roadblocks in numerous locations throughout Buenos Aires, Argentina, Feb. 22 and 23.
Anti-government organizations, including numerous left-wing groups such as Polo Obrero and Unidad Piquetera, plan to hold protests and build roadblocks in numerous locations throughout Buenos Aires and nearby municipalities in the Buenos Aires province, Feb. 22 and 23.
While some of the details of the demonstrations have yet to be released, some of the groups plan to block numerous roads leading to and entering the city of Buenos Aires on the morning of Feb. 22. One of the main protests is planned at the San Justo roundabout, along Avenida General Juan Manuel de Rosas, in the town of San Justo.
On Feb. 23, activists plan to build roadblocks in around 500 locations, many of those along major roads connecting the city with the province of Buenos Aires; the main demonstration is scheduled to occur outside the Ministry of Human Capital in the intersection of Carlos Pellegrini and Juncal streets, starting at 09:00.
Significant ground transport disruptions are likely in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area Feb. 22-23. Business disruptions and heightened security are likely; clashes between demonstrators and police cannot be ruled out, especially near protests along major roads.
Avoid all protests and do not attempt to cross a roadblock if you encounter one. Plan for delays and alternative routes if operating in Buenos Aires Feb. 22 and 23. Strictly heed instructions from authorities.
