Environmental activist groups plan climate demonstrations in Bremen and Munich, July 20. Organizers plan separate events to demand an end to fossil fuel subsidies and increased government action on climate change:

  • Bremen. The Last Generation group will lead a protest at the Main Railway Station Forecourt, from 12:00

  • Munich. Extinction Rebellion (XR) will lead multiple groups in a protest in Karlsplatz, from 15:00.

Several hundred people are likely to attend each gathering. Further protests are possible in urban centers across Germany.

Authorities will likely deploy increased security to monitor the events; localized road travel and transport disruptions are likely. The protests are likely to pass off peacefully.

Avoid the protest areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near rally sites in Bremen and Munich. Heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.
