Bolivia: Medical professionals strike September 27

The Bolivian Medical Association along with other medical groups in La Paz and El Alto will hold a 24-hour strike on Thursday, September 27, to demand justice for a doctor who was recently sentenced to 20 years in prison for the death of a child in 2014. Emergency services will be available during the strike; however, disruptions to non-emergency medical and pharmaceutical services are expected. Related protests are possible, especially in La Paz, in the coming hours and days. A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected near any demonstration site.
