Bolivia: Nationwide general strike December 6
Opposition groups call for nationwide general strike on December 6 amid ongoing demonstrations; additional strikes and protests threatened

Civil society organizations, opposition parties, and labor unions have announced a nationwide general strike on Thursday, December 6, to protest the potential re-election bid of President Evo Morales which they contend would be illegal. Opposition groups argue Morales is constitutionally barred from seeking re-election following a 2016 referendum which upheld term limits. The high court has since ruled in favor of Morales paving the way for his candidacy in 2019. Primary elections are scheduled for January 27, 2019.
