Argentina: Union leaders call for general strike May 15

Union leaders opposed to President Macri's policies call for general strike on May 15; transportation and commercial disruptions possible, particularly in Buenos Aires

The Asociacion Trabajadores del Estado (ATE), along with Central de Trabajadores de la Argentina (CTAA) and other workers unions, are calling for union members to hold a general strike on Wednesday, May 15. Unions are reportedly protesting President Mauricio Macri’s policy proposals towards workers. In Buenos Aires, protesters are expected to gather at 09:30 (local time) outside the Casa de la Provincia de Buenos Aires and march towards the Ministry of Modernization of the Nation.
