Unidentified gunmen attacked a military post in Sandaré (Kayes region) on Tuesday, August 4. According to media sources, a group of four armed individuals who arrived on motorcycles targeted the security post at the entrance of the city at approximately 18:00 (local time) and opened fire. Two security personnel were wounded in the attack. Reports indicate that the assailants set the post on fire before fleeing the area and extensive material damage occurred.
Similar incidents are possible in the region over the near term.
