An improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near a French military convoy traveling between Hombori and Gossi in central Mali Dec. 28. The blast killed three French soldiers. The security forces are part of the French-led Operation Barkhane. Additional security forces were deployed to the impact area following the attack. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
