Two unidentified assailants, at least one armed with a knife, attempted to attack Mali's Interim President Colonel Assimi Goita, at the Great Mosque of Bamako in Bamako, July 20. The incident occurred during an Eid al-Adha ceremony. Goita was reportedly unharmed and escorted away from the mosque. One unidentified person was injured. The two assailants have been arrested. The motive for the attack is not clear. No group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
