Eritrea maintians domestic COVID-19-related restrictions as of Nov. 12; international entry controls remain largely unchanged.

As of Nov. 12, authorities maintain several COVID-19-related restrictions.

Domestic Restrictions
A 23:00 curfew for residents and a 21:00 curfew for private vehicles are in effect. All businesses, including retail stores and entertainment venues, are allowed to open but must close by 20:00. Cafes and restaurants must close by 21:00. Public transport is allowed to operate at up to 70-percent capacity. Government institutions continue to function and provide nonessential services. Wedding and funeral ceremonies are limited to 40 persons, while small gatherings are limited to 10 people.

International Travel Restrictions
Land and sea borders remain closed; cargo and freight are subject to enhanced screening measures. International commercial flights are operating at reduced levels.

All permitted passengers arriving at Asmara International Airport (ASM) must provide a negative result from a PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours before arrival. Incoming travelers are also subject to a rapid COVID-19 antigen test upon arrival in Eritrea. Additionally, non-vaccinated travelers must self-quarantine for five days and take a second COVID-19 test before leaving isolation. Individuals seeking to depart Eritrea must possess a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure.

Authorities could announce additional restrictions in the coming weeks, depending on disease activity; further measures may be implemented on short notice.
